Marine Rescue Queensland (MRQ) Tin Can Bay has a proud history of helping keep the local boating community safe on the water.
Formerly Coast Guard Tin Can Bay QF17, the unit is based at Norman Point and has long supported boaties, fishers and visitors enjoying the region’s extensive waterways.
Our volunteers bring valuable local knowledge of Tin Can Inlet, the Great Sandy Strait and surrounding coastal waters, responding when people need assistance and helping promote safer boating.
The unit’s work is made possible by dedicated volunteers who give their time to train, maintain rescue capability and support their community.
In September 2026, Coast Guard Tin Can Bay began its next chapter as part of Marine Rescue Queensland.
