Marine Rescue Queensland (MRQ) Mooloolaba has a proud history of marine rescue and community service on the Sunshine Coast.
Formerly Coast Guard Mooloolaba QF6, the unit has been serving the local boating community since the 1970s, with generations of volunteers giving their time to help people on the water.
Based on Parkyn Parade on the Mooloolah River, our volunteers bring extensive local knowledge of the river, its entrance and the surrounding Sunshine Coast waters.
The unit provides marine rescue and assistance services, supports safer boating and maintains a strong connection with the local community.
on 29 September 2026, Coast Guard Mooloolaba began its next chapter as part of Marine Rescue Queensland, carrying forward a proud history of volunteer service.
As MRQ Mooloolaba, our volunteers continue that legacy as part of Queensland’s statewide marine rescue service, remaining ready to assist the boating community when they are needed most.
